Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (250 g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups (240 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups (150 g) graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups (260 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 1/4 cup (45 g) white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • Optional: candy eyes or plastic spiders for garnish

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two opposite sides.
  2. If using whole graham crackers, crush them into fine crumbs (about 10 sheets for 1 1/2 cups).
  3. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and peanut butter with an electric mixer until smooth, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add powdered sugar and beat on low until incorporated, then increase to medium for 1 minute.
  5. Mix in graham cracker crumbs and vanilla extract until dough holds together when pressed.
  6. Press the mixture evenly into the prepared pan using your hands or a flat-bottomed glass. Refrigerate while preparing chocolate.
  7. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
  8. Pour melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer and spread evenly. Tap the pan to release air bubbles. Refrigerate for 15 minutes until just set.
  9. Melt white chocolate chips in 20-second bursts in the microwave. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a snipped corner.
  10. Pipe a small circle of white chocolate in the center of the chocolate layer, then pipe concentric circles around it, spacing about 1/2 inch apart.
  11. Drag a toothpick from the center outward through all the circles to create a web pattern. Wipe the toothpick clean between lines.
  12. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or freeze for 45 minutes) until fully set.
  13. Use parchment overhang to lift the block out of the pan. Cut into 16 squares with a sharp knife, wiping the blade clean between cuts.

Notes

For cleaner cuts, let bars sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cutting. If the peanut butter layer is too crumbly, add an extra tablespoon of softened butter. For a dairy-free version, use vegan butter and dairy-free chocolate chips. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free graham crackers.
