A quick and easy sheet pan dinner featuring flaky salmon, tender asparagus, and caramelized lemon slices. Perfect for busy weeknights, this spring-inspired meal comes together in about 30 minutes with minimal cleanup.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill (or 1 tablespoon fresh)
  • 1 bunch asparagus (about 1 pound)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large lemon
  • Fresh dill or parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt for finishing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Position the rack in the upper third of the oven. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Place them skin-side down on the prepared baking sheet, spacing evenly. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons olive oil, then sprinkle with minced garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon pepper, and the dill. Rub the seasoning all over the fillets.
  3. Arrange thin lemon rounds on top of and around the salmon fillets.
  4. Roast the salmon for 10 minutes.
  5. While the salmon roasts, snap off the woody ends of the asparagus. Toss the asparagus with 1 tablespoon olive oil, ¼ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper.
  6. After 10 minutes, remove the pan from the oven. Arrange the seasoned asparagus around the salmon fillets in a single layer.
  7. Return the pan to the oven and roast for another 10-12 minutes, until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily, and the asparagus is bright green with some charred spots.
  8. As soon as the pan comes out, squeeze the remaining lemon half over everything. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and fresh dill or parsley if using.
  9. Let it rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best texture, let salmon sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before cooking. If asparagus is very thin, reduce roasting time by about 3 minutes. To reheat leftovers, use a 300°F oven for about 10 minutes.
