A nostalgic and sophisticated Halloween cocktail that combines the classic creamsicle flavor with a boozy kick. This quick and easy punch features orange juice, vanilla vodka, and a creamy vanilla finish, served with a spooky dry ice fog and creepy garnishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) orange juice, freshly squeezed if possible
  • 2 cups (480 ml) vanilla vodka (e.g., Absolut Vanilla or Smirnoff Vanilla)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) orange liqueur (e.g., Triple Sec, Cointreau, or Grand Marnier)
  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) vanilla extract (pure, not imitation)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream or half-and-half (or full-fat coconut cream for dairy-free)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice (lots of it; consider a large ice block or orange juice ice cubes)
  • 12 pounds dry ice (for spooky fog effect; handle with gloves/tongs)
  • Gummy worms (for garnish)
  • Orange slices and licorice strings (for garnish)
  • Plastic spiders or eyeballs (optional, for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Chill your ingredients: Place orange juice, heavy cream, and vodka in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  2. Prepare your garnish station: Wash and slice 2-3 oranges into thin rounds. Cut a small slit in each slice so they can perch on the rim of glasses. If using a sugar rim, mix 1/4 cup granulated sugar with orange zest in a small bowl.
  3. Mix the base: In a large punch bowl, combine 4 cups chilled orange juice, 2 cups vanilla vodka, and 1 cup orange liqueur. Stir gently with a ladle for about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the cream: Slowly pour in 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half while stirring continuously. The mixture will turn a pale orange color.
  5. Sweeten and flavor: Add 1/2 cup simple syrup and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Stir gently for another 30 seconds. Taste and adjust sweetness or vanilla flavor as desired.
  6. Add ice: Add ice to the punch bowl (about 4 cups of ice cubes or a large ice block).
  7. Prepare the dry ice: Wearing gloves or using tongs, break dry ice into small chunks (golf ball size) using a hammer and towel. Add 2-3 chunks to the punch bowl right before serving. The fog will last 10-15 minutes; add more chunks as needed.
  8. Garnish and serve: Drape gummy worms over the edge of the punch bowl. Float plastic spiders or eyeballs if using. For individual glasses, rim with orange sugar, add ice cubes, ladle in the punch, and garnish with an orange slice and a dangling gummy worm.

Notes

Handle dry ice with care: never touch with bare skin, never ingest, and only add to the punch bowl (not individual glasses). Wait until dry ice has completely sublimated before drinking. For best fog effect, add dry ice right before guests arrive and refresh every 20-30 minutes. Chill all ingredients beforehand to minimize ice melt. The punch base (without cream and ice) can be made up to 24 hours ahead. Leftover punch (without dry ice) can be refrigerated for up to 2 days; stir well before serving.
