A quick and easy pork tenderloin recipe featuring a sticky, shiny honey garlic glaze that balances sweet and savory flavors. Perfect for weeknight dinners or dinner parties, this dish delivers juicy, tender pork with a rich, flavorful coating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pork tenderloin (about 1 pound / 450 grams), trimmed of silver skin and excess fat
  • 3 tablespoons honey (preferably raw or local)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (extra virgin for searing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the pork tenderloin dry with paper towels. Trim off any silver skin or excess fat. Season evenly with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.
  3. Preheat your oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).
  4. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Carefully place the pork tenderloin in the pan. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown, turning with tongs.
  5. Pour the honey garlic glaze over the pork in the skillet. Spoon some glaze on top to coat thoroughly.
  6. Place the skillet in the preheated oven. Roast the pork for 15-20 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part reads 145Β°F (63Β°C). Baste with glaze halfway through cooking.
  7. Remove the skillet from the oven and transfer the pork to a cutting board. Tent loosely with foil and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Slice the pork into 1/2-inch thick slices. Drizzle any remaining glaze from the pan over the slices and garnish with fresh thyme or rosemary if desired.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to ensure pork reaches 145Β°F for perfect doneness. Resting the meat after cooking is crucial to keep it juicy. If glaze darkens too much during roasting, cover loosely with foil. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari. The glaze can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 2 days.
