Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry-flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water (for red layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (for red layer)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) coconut milk (full-fat, canned)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (for white layer)
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry-flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water (for blue layer)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka (for blue layer)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a medium bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water over the strawberry gelatin powder. Whisk until fully dissolved (about 2 minutes). Stir in 1/2 cup vodka. Pour evenly into shot glasses, filling about 1/3 of each cup. Refrigerate for at least 45 minutes until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Make the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/4 cup cold coconut milk and let bloom for 5 minutes. Warm remaining 3/4 cup coconut milk over low heat (do not boil). Stir in sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Add bloomed gelatin and whisk until dissolved. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Stir in 1/2 cup vodka gently.
  3. Carefully spoon the white mixture over the set red layer in each shot glass. Refrigerate for another 45 minutes until firm and tacky.
  4. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blue raspberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir in 1/2 cup vodka.
  5. Once the white layer is set, slowly pour the blue mixture over the back of a spoon to create the final layer without disturbing the white. Chill for 2–3 hours or overnight to fully set.
  6. Keep chilled until serving. Garnish with fresh blueberries or small American flags if desired.

Notes

Bloom gelatin properly before heating to avoid clumps. Cool each layer before pouring the next to prevent melting. Pour the top layer slowly over the back of a spoon for distinct layers. Use quality vodka for smooth flavor. Chill each layer until firm but tacky to help layers stick. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days; avoid freezing.
