Halloween Monster Cookie Bark

Halloween Monster Cookie Bark - featured image

This Easy Halloween Monster Cookie Bark is a 5-minute treat that combines melted semi-sweet chocolate with pretzels, candy corn, M&Ms, and peanuts for a crunchy, salty, sweet, and completely ridiculous Halloween treat that disappears faster than any layered bar or stuffed cookie.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips (recommended: Ghirardelli or Guittard)
  • 1 cup pretzel twists, roughly broken (salted preferred)
  • 1/2 cup candy corn (or autumn mix)
  • 1/2 cup M&Ms (Halloween colors or any variety)
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips, melted (for drizzling, optional)
  • Flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper, smoothing out wrinkles.
  2. Place semi-sweet chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring well after each interval, until glossy and smooth (about 1 minute 30 seconds total). Do not overheat.
  3. Pour and spread the melted chocolate onto the parchment-lined sheet into a rough rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick.
  4. While chocolate is still warm and wet, scatter broken pretzels, candy corn, M&Ms, and chopped peanuts evenly over the surface. Press them in gently with fingertips so they stick.
  5. If using, melt white chocolate chips in a separate bowl (20-second bursts). Transfer to a small zip-top bag, snip a tiny corner, and drizzle zigzags over the top.
  6. Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt over everything.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator, flat, for at least 20 minutes until completely firm.
  8. Once set, lift parchment paper off the sheet. Break the bark into irregular pieces with your hands. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Don’t skip the chilling step. If your kitchen is warm (above 75°F), keep bark in fridge until serving. For best results, use real chocolate chips with cocoa butter for a clean snap. Total mix-ins should be around 2 cups. If chocolate seizes, start over with fresh chips. For a pro tip, toast pretzels at 350°F for 3-4 minutes before adding. Use fridge, not freezer, for setting.
