This Easy Copycat Starbucks Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso is a quick and delicious homemade version of the popular coffee shop drink. With just four simple ingredients and a vigorous shake, you can enjoy a perfectly balanced, creamy, and frothy iced coffee in under 5 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 shots espresso (about 3 ounces total)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup oat milk (about 4 ounces)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 shots of espresso (about 3 ounces total).
  2. While the espresso is still hot, pour it into a mason jar or cocktail shaker. Add the packed brown sugar immediately and stir briefly if needed.
  3. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds until the mixture becomes slightly thicker and develops a light brown foam.
  4. Fill a serving glass completely with ice cubes.
  5. Pour the shaken espresso mixture over the ice.
  6. Slowly pour the oat milk over the back of a spoon held just above the surface to create layers, or pour directly for a blended look.
  7. Stir with a long spoon or straw until fully combined. Serve immediately.

Notes

For the best results, use a barista blend oat milk and large ice cubes to prevent dilution. The espresso must be hot when adding the brown sugar to ensure it dissolves properly. If you want a less sweet drink, reduce the brown sugar to 1 tablespoon. For a spiced version, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the shaker.
