A fun and festive Halloween charcuterie board shaped like a black cat, made in just 10 minutes with simple ingredients like olives, cheese, grapes, and crackers. Perfect for a date night, pre-trick-or-treat snack, or a quick weeknight treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8–10 black olives (pitted)
  • 4 oz white cheddar cheese block
  • 1 cup dark purple grapes (seedless)
  • 1/2 cup blackberries
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate-covered almonds
  • 8–10 black sesame crackers or dark rye crackers
  • 4 oz Brie or Camembert
  • 4 slices prosciutto or salami (optional)
  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
  • 1/4 cup small crackers or breadsticks

Instructions

  1. Set up your board. Place your board or platter on a clean, dry surface. If using parchment, lay it down now.
  2. Cut the cheese for the ears. Take your block of white cheddar and cut two triangles about 2 inches tall and 1.5 inches wide at the base. Place them at the top of your board, angled outward slightly, like ears sticking up.
  3. Create the eyes. Take two large black olives and place them just below the ears, spaced about an inch apart. Press them gently into the cheese or crackers so they stay put.
  4. Add the nose. Take one olive and cut it in half lengthwise. Place one half, cut side down, between and slightly below the eyes, with the pointed end facing downward.
  5. Make the whiskers. Take two sprigs of fresh rosemary. Place one on each side of the nose, angled outward and slightly upward.
  6. Build the body. Below the face, arrange a cluster of dark purple grapes or blackberries in an oval shape. Tuck a few chocolate-covered almonds around the edges for texture.
  7. Add the crackers. Arrange your black sesame crackers or dark rye crackers around the edges of the board, framing the cat. Leave some space around the face.
  8. Fill in the gaps. Add small pieces of brie, rolled prosciutto (if using), and any remaining fruit or nuts in the empty spaces.
  9. Add finishing touches. Sprinkle a few extra chocolate-covered almonds near the body. Place a small ramekin of extra olives in a corner if you have one. Drape a slice of prosciutto casually over the edge.
  10. Step back and admire. Take a second to look at what you made.

Notes

Don’t overthink the cat face—a slightly lopsided face looks more like a real cat. Use room temperature cheese for easier cutting and better flavor. Prep all ingredients before arranging. Keep a damp paper towel nearby for messy fingers. The rosemary whiskers are key to making it read as a cat; if you don’t have rosemary, thin pretzel sticks or chives work.
