Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
  • Wooden or metal skewers, soaked if wooden

Instructions

  1. Rinse shrimp under cold water and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, Cajun seasoning, minced garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Add shrimp to the bowl and toss gently to coat evenly. Marinate for 10-15 minutes at room temperature.
  4. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Thread 4-5 shrimp per skewer, leaving space between each.
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F). Brush grill grates lightly with oil to prevent sticking.
  6. Place shrimp skewers on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, flipping once, until shrimp turn pink and opaque with slight char.
  7. Optionally, baste shrimp with extra melted Cajun butter during grilling for added flavor and moisture.
  8. Remove skewers from grill, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Notes

Pat shrimp dry before seasoning to ensure butter and spices stick well. Soak wooden skewers to prevent burning. Use medium-high heat to avoid flare-ups. Watch shrimp closely to avoid overcooking; shrimp are done when pink and firm, curling into a loose ‘C’ shape. Leftovers keep up to 2 days refrigerated and reheat gently.
