A tangy, slightly spicy lemonade with fresh citrus, ginger, and pink Himalayan salt that refreshes and hydrates naturally. Perfect for hot days and a gentle detox.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium fresh lemons, juiced
  • 2 medium fresh limes, juiced
  • 1 to 2 inches fresh ginger root, peeled and finely grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt (fine grain)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust for sweetness; agave can be used for vegan option)
  • 4 cups cold filtered water (about 1 liter; sparkling water optional for fizzy twist)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Roll the lemons and limes firmly on the counter to loosen juices. Cut them in half and use a citrus juicer to extract about 1 cup (240 ml) of lemon juice and 1/3 cup (80 ml) of lime juice. Remove any seeds.
  2. Peel 1 to 2 inches of fresh ginger root and finely grate it to get about 1 tablespoon of grated ginger.
  3. In a mixing pitcher, combine the fresh citrus juices, grated ginger, and 1/4 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt. Stir gently to dissolve the salt.
  4. Stir in 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup until fully dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Add 4 cups (1 liter) of cold filtered water and stir well to combine. Substitute half or all with chilled sparkling water if desired.
  6. Add ice cubes to the pitcher or glasses. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes to allow the ginger and salt to infuse the lemonade fully.
  7. Before serving, give the lemonade one last stir and adjust salt, sweetness, or citrus if necessary. Pour into glasses and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Use fresh citrus juice for best flavor; bottled juice is not recommended. Adjust ginger amount to taste to avoid overpowering the drink. Stir salt thoroughly into citrus juice before adding water to prevent gritty spots. For a smoother ginger flavor, strain the mixture before chilling. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and stir before serving. Substitute sparkling water for a fizzy version. Use raw honey for added floral notes and nutrients. Pink Himalayan salt adds minerals and a milder saltiness compared to table salt.
