A quick and comforting breakfast casserole featuring flaky crescent rolls, savory ham, and gooey cheddar cheese, perfect for busy mornings or weekend brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz / 226 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 cups (200 g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ cups (150 g) diced cooked ham
  • 6 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon dry mustard or smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
  3. Unroll the crescent dough and press it gently to seal the perforations, then spread it evenly on the bottom of the dish to form a buttery crust.
  4. Sprinkle the diced ham evenly over the crescent roll base, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. In a medium bowl, whisk together the 6 eggs, 1 cup milk, salt, pepper, and optional dry mustard or smoked paprika until smooth.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the ham and cheese layers, allowing it to soak into the crescent roll base.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the top is golden brown. Tent with foil if edges brown too quickly.
  8. Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs and milk for even cooking. Seal crescent roll seams well to prevent leaks. If crescent roll crust bubbles, poke holes with a fork before layering. Let casserole rest before slicing for cleaner pieces. Can substitute ham with cooked bacon, sausage, or vegetarian options like mushrooms and spinach. For dairy-free, use almond or oat milk and vegan cheese.
